What To Consider When Purchasing Doormats for Your Business

April 21, 2022

What To Consider When Purchasing Doormats for Your Business

When you invest in doormats for your company’s building, there are several considerations that come into play. It’s not always necessarily as simple as picking the first doormat you find; you need to ensure it fits the space and its purpose as well. Be aware of what to consider when purchasing doormats for your business.

Their Placement

When thinking of where to place your doormat, know whether it’ll be inside or outside. Depending on where you put it, this can affect what type of material you opt for when selecting the mat.

If you want an outside doormat, you’ll need one that can stand up to the elements and won’t fray easily. When purchasing an indoor mat, you can get away with less durable materials, as it won’t need to deal with sunlight, rain, snow, or wind.

The Mat’s Thickness

The thicker the mat, the more durable it’ll be, but that thickness can pose a problem when you set it next to doors. Know the clearance the door has when you place your doormat; a mat that’s too thick can prevent a door from opening smoothly. Make sure whatever you purchase doesn’t get in the way of opening doorways.

The Overall Size

Doormats come in all shapes and sizes, and you need to know what’s best for your intended space. If you have a large area to cover at your front entrance, you’ll need to get your hands on an XL doormat that can cover the entire area. But if you only deal with small entryways, then a large mat may take up too much space. Measure out the spot you need to cover and select the mat accordingly.

Long-Term Maintenance

Mats come in different materials, which means you need to know their long-term maintenance needs. You can easily vacuum any debris or sweep it off of thinner mats, but thicker mats may need more thorough cleaning measures. Rubber mats won’t need vacuuming, but they will need the occasional wiping down to eliminate any grime.

Get the Best Fit for Your Space

Know what to consider when purchasing a doormat for your business. There are several factors that play a part in picking the best one. Always ensure that it fits, doesn’t cause any issues, and that you can maintain it for a long time to come.
